- I am having problems sending faxes from my US Robotics Sportster
- fax/modem, using Microsoft Fax in Windows 95. I would greatly
- appreciate any tips or pointers anyone might be able to provide.
-
- The problem:
-
- 1. I create a fax to be sent, either in Microsoft Exchange or directly
- from a program, such as Word. Microsoft Fax formats the fax, dials
- the modem and connects to the receiving fax machine. Sending begins,
- and the first page of the transmission is sent successfully.
-
- 2. Each time, after the first page is 100% sent, there is a delay of
- about 30 seconds, and then the Fax Status box gives the message
- "Send failed", and the fax transmission is terminated, even though the
- first page has been sucessfully received by the remote machine. The
- error message in Microsoft Exchange reads partially as follows:
- -------------------------------------------------
- The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
- 'Company Mailroom' on 1/10/96 8:30:06 PM
- A problem occurred during transmission. No pages were sent..
- The remote machine hung up. One of the following may have
- occurred:
- The machine is out of paper.
- The machine is incompatible with Microsoft Fax.
- There was noise on the line.
- -------------------------------------------------
-
-
- What I've tried:
-
- 1. To rule out problems with the remote machines, I tried sending
- different messages to different remote machines. Each of the machines
- was verified to be working before I sent the faxes. Exactly the same
- problem with termination of the fax occurred each time.
-
- 2. To rule out line noise or other problems, I sent long faxes from
- another machine on the same line, to the same remote machines. The
- termination problem did not occur with the other fax machine.
-
- 3. I have tried enabling/disabling various modem settings from the
- "Advanced Modem Settings" dialog, to no avail. I have also tried the
- following modem configurations:
- Sportster 14400 Fax PC Plug & Play
- Courier Dual Standard V,34 Fax
- Courier 14,400 V32bis Fax
-
-
- My system configuration is:
-
- Pentium 90 PC
- Windows 95 & Microsoft Fax
- US Robotics Sportster 14.4 Internal Modem on COM 3, IRQ 5
-
-
- Any clues, anyone???
